Teams

The most important people involved in APP4 were of course the Players.  Eight full teams showed up to the competition, with perhaps a record amount of total players.  As opposed to recent competitions, teams were simply capped at eight players, with one or two extra players allowed if a team included enough rookie or out-of-town players, rather than a point-based experience system.

Sadly, a few last-minute changes to the team rosters were lost, so if you find something needs to be corrected, please email the event coordinator, Steven Clontz, at steven.clontz@gmail.com with the correction.

Designates Captain

Team Building Rules

Up to eight different Teams can take part in APP4. If you want to organize an APP4 team, you first need to select a Team Captain. Your Captain will be expected to keep in contact with the Commissioner throughout the event via phone, and generally serves as the leader of your team/superhero group. He/she will then register a team and claim a color by emailing the Commissioner at commissioner@auburnpuzzlepatrol.com. When registering, include the Captain’s name and phone number, and a list of team members which follows the below rules.

  • Each team is composed of 8 Heroes, including their Captain. You may have less Heroes, but having less than seven is strongly discouraged since teams will need to be able to work on several challenges at the same time.
  • A team may have 9 Heroes provided they include at least 3 Heroes who are either Rookies or live outside Auburn/Opelika in their roster. (A “Rookie” is any player who has never participated in an Auburn Puzzle Party or Eric’s Puzzle Party.)
  • A team may have 10 Heroes provided they include at least 6 Heroes who are either Rookies or live outside Auburn/Opelika in their roster.

For the day of competition, each team is expected to have a Superhero team name and matching costumes incorporating their team color. These “costumes” can be as simple or elaborate as you want (matching colored shirts is perfectly fine), as long as every Hero can be identified with their team color. Teams without costumes will be penalized points at the beginning of the day for having nonuniformed Heroes. Hey, it’s the day before Halloween – have some fun with this!
